tomato-rice

Ingredients :

  1. Ramajeyam Raw Rice- 1 cup
  2. Tomatoes – 3 (finely chopped)
  3. Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
  4. Green peas – 1/2 cup
  5. Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  6. Bay leaf – 2
  7. Black cardamom – 2
  8. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  9. Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
  10. Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Cooking oil – 1 tbsp

Method :

  1. Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes in some water. Drain the water and pressure cook with 2 cups of water.
  2. When the pressure comes down, spread the rice in a plate.
  3. Add oil in your pan and when oil is warm add cumin seeds, bay leaf, black cardamom and saute for few seconds.
  4. Now add onions and saute till they turn golden brown. Then add tomatoes and saute for few minutes.
  5. Now add green peas and half a cup of water and cook it till peas are soft and cooked properly.
  6. Now turmeric powder, garam masala, red chili powder and mix it well.
  7. Add cooked rice and salt to taste and mix it gently.
